What is Pediatric Chiropractic Care and Is It Safe?

Pediatric chiropractic care focuses on gentle, age-appropriate techniques designed to meet the needs of infants and growing children. Each child is different, and care is tailored to their individual needs, stage of development, and comfort level.

A chiropractic adjustment on an infant or small child does not require ANY “popping or cracking”. Dr. Alana will often describe the amount of force used as what you would use to wipe something out of your eye or the amount of force you would use to squeeze a tomato for ripeness. Chiropractic adjustments are generally considered very safe when they are performed by a qualified, experienced pediatric chiropractor.

Unlike adjustments that may be performed on adults, techniques used with infants and young children involve very light pressure and gentle contact. As children grow older, other techniques can also be used that are more like care that would be used on an adult. Parents and guardians are always welcome and encouraged to stay present for treatment regardless of the child’s age.

At Cary House, we believe in taking the time to listen to parents' questions, understand each child's needs, and help families feel comfortable and informed throughout the process. Dr. Alana will discuss the approach to care, what to expect during a visit, and whether chiropractic treatment is appropriate for your child.
